Damn Traffic Signals

On my way home from work this evening, I had a thought. As the light turned green, I rounded the corner and passed through the next light at the other side of the intersection. I approached the next light (at Legacy and Eldorado) and just out of my reach the light started to turn from green to yellow. Tonight there was an overcast and it was misting. On a typical night when it’s clear, I am running this same section of road at +5 to +7 over the speed limit, and the the same light begins to change when I am much closer making it very easy to get through.

What does this teach me? I need to drive faster — just slightly over the speed limit — to make the light. So, my thought: “Do stop light signals based on traffic pattern encourage people to run red lights?”

Kids eat free in the DFW Metroplex

NTK compiled a great list of where kids eat free or cheap in DFW. These offers change periodically so they recommend that you call ahead and confirm the offers are still valid before you go.

Long Overdue Update

Is this thing still on? Sibilance, Sibilance. I really just need to make sure this thing still works. I updated to a cool new design and plan on trying to put more stuff on here and rely less on Facebook, since there are so many still refusing to embrace the Social Media platform. I also prefer to have more control over content.

More come soon.

Various Ramblings

Turning 35 wasn’t too bad at all. My wife surprised me by inviting my Gun Club buddies and some people I ride with. One of the guys went with me to the Gun Show at Big Town and then by a HD shop, so I had no idea when I came home that everyone would be there to surprise me. Way to go, Audrey! You pulled one over on me this time. One of the guys in GC has a catering business on the side, so he brought brisket and ribs and some WOW.. damn, they were good. I had a good time — thanks to all who attended.

One of the guys got me a few lottery tickets for my birthday. I have never played the lottery before because my luck is horrible. He got me three $5 tickets. The first ticket hit for $50, the second raked in $5 and the third was a dud. A $15 gift turned into $55! I went to 7-11 to cash in, and took the $5 bill to buy one more then I remembered why I don’t play the lottery — I won NOTHING! From now on, if I want to play, I will take 8-ball with me! Thanks Mike!

Finally for my blabbering, I will offer up some more Andrew. I uploaded a video of him attempting his animal sounds. This was just taken today. We returned home from the doctors office, I sat him on the counter and we talked about animal sounds. He is so cute. I haven’t been teaching him this stuff, so its good to know they are teaching him some stuff at daycare :)
