Life Before Alex

You think we don’t update the journal enough now? Just wait until next week. Alex is going to be stubborn like his father and wait until the last day. He’s not coming early like I had originally hoped. Instead, we are going to induce on Wednesday and pull that little turkey out.

Things about my current life that I am going to miss:

1] Sleep
2] Hosting my monthly poker game
3] Money
4] Peaceful times in front of the compuer
5] Date night

Speaking of date night, I thought I would take Audrey out for one last night of fun before the baby. We went to dinner and a movie. We saw the 7:15 showing of “Friday Night Lights”. If you haven’t already seen it, please save your money. It was horrible. Most of the movie was shot through a camera that seemed to be mounted to the actors shoulders and pointed right at the face. *Very* close shots that made you sick no matter how far back you sat in the theater. This is too bad, because I was looking forward to seeing this movie.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. This is my last weekend as a non-Dad, so I am going to try and make the best of it. We are so very excited about next week, but we also know it’s going to be a lot of work. Have a great weekend!

Light at the End of the Tunnel

There is a light at the end of this 9 month tunnel. We officially have an induction date. I am due on Nov. 4th, but will be induced on the 3rd(Wed). So on the 2nd(Tues) at 8pm I will check into Labor and Delivery. They will give me Cervadil(I guess I am spelling it right!) to soften my cervix over night and then the next morning they will start the petocin and get this show on the road. So hopefully by that afternoon/evening we will have a baby! Of course all of this could change if I go into labor on my own, which is what we would all rather have happen. But just in case we have a back up plan. My mother and David really dont want me to be induced, but when the dr checked last time and said the baby weighed about 6lb 13oz, and knowing that babies gain 1/2-1 pound a week, I dont want to wait any longer. That measurement was taken on the 13th. So this kid could possibly gain 3 pounds on top of that 6.13. I dont want a 3rd grader, I want a baby and I dont want to have to push out 9+ pounds of baby! My dr agreed so we set the date! I know that those measurements can be wrong and they told me they have a +/-1/2 pound variable, but even if they are off and he was only 6 lb that week and he gains 1/2 lb every week, he will still be 7.5 lbs or so! That is a nice size for a baby!

So anyway, this is all coming to an end and this afternoon I realized that we have at home about 1 1/2 weeks left of being just me and David! We are finally going to be parents to some little being that we have been calling Alex!

Early Morning Blabber

Well it is almost 1 AM and as usual, I am having trouble sleeping. David and I went to bed about 2 hours ago and neither of us could sleep. So I got up to check online and see about a glider. My mom and I have been looking for a glider and haven’t found just the right one. Then the other day I remembered that they had a really nice one in our church nursery. So this morning (ok yesterday morning) when we went to church, we peeked in the nursery to check it out. Several of the nursery workers said they really like that chair and that it was very comfortable. They said to look online at Walmart and Target. I didn’t see any at Target that I really like, but the one from the nursery came from Walmart and I liked it. So I emailed my mom about it and we’ll see what happens!

Everything else in the nursery is done. David hung up the shelves and we got Alex’s name hung up on the wall. David claims he isn’t going to take more pics until the bed is up, but we don’t even have the bed yet! David still hasn’t called his sister to get it all arranged to have her bring it down. She just moved Christian into a big boy bunk bed and he is loving it! Good timing since we needed his crib!

Well, I guess I should try to go to bed again. Although, it is not like I have to get up for anything tomorrow! And I will probably have to pee in 10 minutes anyway! Oh well, off I go! Hope everyone has a good week!

Forgotten Image

audlad.jpg I was browsing through the pictures on my cell phone, and I had forgotten I had taken this picture of Audrey when I arrived at Labor and Delivery of the hospital. Audrey was all hooked up to the monitor, and I thought she was much too cute to miss the opportunity for this photo. Things are going pretty well for her. She’s been relaxing lately with her feet up, and her contractions have slowed down. Her mother came into town last night, and we are going to show her the way to the hospital this afternoon. Thanks you to all who have called or e-mail with your warm words. We are glad we are in your thoughts.
