For Marty

This posting is for Marty. I called to verify his plans for the weekend, and he complained that I hadn’t updated my journal in a while. This, my friend, is for you.

Things have been rolling along pretty smoothly. Audrey, Alex and I took the weekend and drove to Oklahoma to help my parents pack and sort. They have decided to sell their house and move into something smaller. With Mom and Dad growing older, it’s not as easy to take care of the house and yard. Fortunately, they have a lot of equity in their home, so that will leave them with a nice nest egg.

While we were visiting, Alex finally rolled over. He has been arching his back quite a bit, and he finally turned himself onto his belly. When he did, he sat still for a second trying to figure out what he had done, then he continued rolling and rolled onto his back. Audrey, Mom, Dad and I made a big presentation which left Alex looking as though, “what did I do?” With Alex being in Daycare, it made me appreciate that we were able to witness it first hand.

Easter is upon us. Marty and Vanessa will be coming up this weekend to spend the weekend with us. I know Alex will enjoy their company as will Audrey and I.

I hope all is well with you.

My Office

When I am home, this is where I spend most of my time - the office. However, when I am in my office working, I am not spending time with Alex, which is becoming more important to me lately. I try and balance my work and home life, and so far I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job. However, being on the Board of Directors for our Homeowners Association and owning my own business has put somewhat of a strain on my personal time. I am already seeing the product of ‘my kids growing up too fast’, and I really don’t want to miss that. I had a few appointments early this morning, and then I had to run some errands. When I returned home, Mom was not pleased that I had been gone all day. Alex had been fussy all day, and as I was holding Alex I noticed that his belly was really hard. I asked Audrey to give Alex some gripe water, and it made him feel much better (Woodward’s Gripe Water is a product of Canada and is far better than any other product we’ve found.)

The boy is pretty easy to predict. If he is fussy, and he has been fed and changed there are only two other alternatives. He has gas or he is hot. Solution: Get him naked or give him some grip water.

We just got his 3 month pictures back. I will scan them and add them to the web site very soon. It’s getting late, and I have another big day tomorrow. Have a great week!

Super-Duper Weekend

The trip to Okahoma was fantastic. We left Friday afternoon, and stayed the night in Claremore with some friends. In the morning, Audrey got up early and went shopping for Alex. She spent a few hours and brought back a boat load of toys. The word I got was, “I got about $200 worth of toys for less than $100.00″. Annyywwaayy, we had lunch with DJ, Brian and Mattie and then headed north to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. They were all so happy to see him. He smiled and chatted with all the grandparents. I think Grandma and Grandpa are pretty happy with Alex.

On the way home, however, things got ugly. Apparently the small fuzzy monkey hanging from Alex’s car seat must have talked some smack to Alex, because the fighting began. From the driver’s seat, all I could see was monkey fur flying around in the rear view mirror. The photos show all the gruesome details. I even added play by play comments of every punch, slap and bite. By the time we got home, the monkey had been crushed by Alex’s mighty power. Let’s just say that in the end, Alex *owned* that monkey, and there is a good change we will be finding whats left of the monkey in Alex’s diapers. :)

Thanks to mom for all the great backseat photography.
