I am looking forward to the weekend. I took Monday off from work, and it’s still been a long week. Last weekend was good. We went to the Ft Worth Zoo with a big group of friends. In fact, I am playing with some new software, and have made a video of our trip. You can see it at http://alex.davidpruitt.com/. You will need the newest version of QuickTime installed (version 7), though.
Times are good. I have officially become addicted to Geo Trax. With toys like this, it is going to be even more fun being a parent than I thought. Although, the playing does not bring out the best in me. There have been a few times I found myself getting angry with Alex, who likes to pretend he is Godzilla. He often walks across the tracks, picking up cars to chew on them or merely toss them across the room. He plays the Godzilla part well. If you have a child, and you do not have Geo Trax, I highly recommend them. They will keep the child (and husband) busy for hours.
In other news, I begin my allergy shots today. Last week, I went to an allergy clinic for testing. I am allergic to over 50 of the 60 things they test for. If you have never gotten tested for allergies, let me tell you the horror story. First, they poke your arm with a saline type solution to see if you have any reaction to the plastic needles. Then, they poke you with a histamine. This histamine is a test run, and anything that swells larger than that spot is a positive reaction (allergic reaction). Then the fun begins.. they begin poking me with needles, 30 on each arm. Each poke seems to get deeper, and finally when its all done they leave you for 15 minutes while those things cook.. wow.. and does it itch!! They won’t let you itch, either. The best you can do is blow on them. I tell you, I got blowing so often and hard, I sounded like a freakin hair dryer. Wow, it itched. I would have loved to have had a wire brush or a scratch pole. As you can imagine, my arms swelled up pretty good. Here is what your arm MAY look like. However, my blisters were much larger. It looked as though the nurses came at me with hot curling irons. Wow, it itched!! Finally, after 15 minutes of agony, they came over and recorded the results then wiped me down with alcohol. Wow, it itched!! Finally, they applied some creams, and the itching went away. Thank goodness. Despite the torture, I think its worth it. My allergies are miserable, and I will finally find some relief. I start taking 2 shots a week for 6 months. After 6 months, I can drop to 1 shot a week. The doctor said it usually takes a minimum of 3 years for your body to stop reacting to the allergine. I can’t wait!!
Anywho, Let me tell you a little more about Alex. He is doing well. Other than playing the role of Godzilla, he’s been becoming more of a clown like his mommy. He loves wagon rides, and going to the park. He switched classes at day care, so now he is with the Toddler 2 group. This means that he has moved out of the pack-n-play and onto a mat when its nap time. They grow so quickly. I will be putting more video and photos together shortly. I also need to put together another newsletter - subscribers be expecting that!!
That’s about it for now. I better get back to work. Have a great weekend!!
