Rock Star Alex

Photo of AlexMy son, the rock star, did great swimming yesterday. He did so well, the teacher gave him some cool glasses. Being the show off that Alex is, he had to put them on right away. Alex is the youngest in his class by 6 months, but he is doing extremely well. Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong when we got to dinner. Both Audrey and I fully believe that Alex has started the terrible-twos. He has been throwing more tantrums lately, telling Mommy no, and just being a general pain in the neck. Do they ever outgrow this? I don’t think I did. :)

Alex Shines

Alex Dressed Up For ChurchBefore we left for church this morning, Audrey wanted to take a photo of Alex. Alex put on his Sunday’s best, and gladly posed for the photo. When we told him we needed to take a picture, where did he go for a backdrop? His trains, of course. The child loves his GeoTraxx. Not only did he pose in front of them, he tried to look cool while leaning against the conductor house — what a ham! He’s pretty great.

The weekend was restful. Audrey and I actually had a date on Friday night (Thank you Kevin and Joy!). We went to the Movie Studio Grill. It was a pretty neat experience. The Movie Studio Grill is a movie theater that also serves dinner. If you’ve never been, you should try it. You have a nice dinner at a small table seated in comfortable leather chairs. We decided on Hollywoodland. The Pru-review would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It wasn’t a bad story, but it did have some slow spots.

It’s time to get ready for another work week. I hope it’s going to be a good one. I hope your week goes well.

Arg, Matey!

Pirate BillInternational Talk Like a Pirate Day was a big success. A co-worker went all out, and dressed the part. He even had a earring and a parrot to go on his shoulder. It was pretty funny for the first hour of the work day, but quickly went downhill. For lunch, we felt it appropriate to eat at Red Lobster. We got quite a few stares, but surprisingly there were a couple people that knew it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day. If you are so inclined, you can even take this quiz to find out your pirate name. Ahoy Meharty!

Weekend Illness

It was a long weekend for the Pruitt’s family. On Friday, I received a call from Audrey saying Alex was sick. The exact conversation went something like this, “I received a call from daycare. They fed Alex his snack, and half way through eating it, they felt a rumble across the floor. It came from Alex. He stood up with an awful look on his face, and said ‘I poopied’.” I will keep it clean, but from what I heard, it was a real mess. Audrey picked Alex up from daycare, and went home. Alex was fine all evening. He had diarrhea really bad, but he had no fever and didn’t seem to be bothered by this stomach bug.

At 3am on Saturday morning my cell phone rang. It was a wrong number, but it woke Alex up. He coughed, and then vomited. I didn’t hear any of this, but Audrey filled me in when she woke me up. She took Alex into the bath tub (did I mention it was 3am?) while I went to clean up his bed. Luckily, it wasn’t too bad. He was much more of a mess than his bed. After we cleaned him up, Audrey laid him down, but he started vomiting again. We determined that he was going to have to sleep sitting up. My wonderful wife took Alex downstairs, and slept upright while I slept upstairs.

The family woke me up at 8am. She asked if I would take Alex while she got some sleep. This sounded fair enough to me. I took Alex downstairs, and we played for a while. He seemed fine. While he was at the bookshelf getting a book, I heard the rumble. Then I saw something running down his leg. Yuck. That was disgusting. Anyway, I got him cleaned up. As I was holding him, he threw up AGAIN!! I took him to the kitchen sink, and cleaned him up — going heavy on the soap. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough.

We were suppose have my belated birthday party at 5:00 p.m., but when Audrey called to inform our friends it was like we all had Ebola. No one wanted to come around. Sad to say, it was a quiet birthday at home with the family. If I may have a small pity party for a second: This was the first year I didn’t even get so much as a cake. I was sad. :(

Alex Wiped OutThe good news is that Alex started feeling much better. He felt so much better that we went out for my birthday dinner that night, and Alex was great. We had a small brownie-thing that subbed as my cake. We stayed home from church on Sunday morning just to make sure Alex was 100%. I don’t think the church would appreciate me taking that little bug into the nursery. The rest of the weekend went pretty well. Alex spent most of Sunday watching Bear in the Big Blue House, The Wiggles and The Doodlebops. In fact, he played so hard, he crashed right in the living room floor. He just dropped his guitar, and took a nap. What a weekend!!
