Alex’s Birthday Weekend

I am a couple days late with this post, but I thought it would be better late than never. Alex’s birthday party on Saturday went really well. Many of our friends and Alex’s friends showed up to celebrate his big day. We started the party playing in the park across the street from our house. It was pretty cool watching Alex interact with other kids his age — especially his classmates from daycare that he knows well. It’s amazing that as a parent you see your kids grow up before your eyes. I watched as Alex seemed to carry on a conversation with a friend, but I knew that it couldn’t have been but a few words and some sounds. Even though, the kids smiled at each other and chatted back and fourth as though they knew exactly what the other was saying. It was really weird.

Once everyone arrived, we went back the house for some finger food and cake. As Audrey lit the candles on Alex’s birthday cake, he got a weird look on his face and repeated “Haawwtt” which is his way of saying, “Hot”. He quickly blew out the first candle, but Mommy has to help him with the second one. Everyone sang as he sit and looked sweet and innocent. If you have seen the photos yet, go have a look.

In all, it was a really great weekend. It was a joy being with Alex and Audrey this weekend to celebrate Alex’s birthday. You know, I really consider myself lucky. I don’t have a job that keeps me away from my family. I work a pretty normal day, and sometimes log in at night to finish up some work. I don’t have to work late very often, and I have yet to have to work a weekend. I really couldn’t be happier. I truly feel blessed.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Alex,
Happy Birthday to you!!

At 5:03 p.m., Alex turns 2. He’s so awesome! Thank you for being a cool kid. It’s an awesome pleasure to be your Dad!!

First November Post

Now THAT is an original title. :) I was reminded today that its time to update my web site. I got the camera, and downloaded all 200 photos from the last month or so, and put some in the photo section to share. There were photos there from our family trip to Arkansas and Oklahoma. That was a lot of fun. We got to see Audrey’s grandmother and extended family while we were in Arkansas along with some of our old college friends, Kathy and Curt. This is a really pretty time of year to visit Arkansas. The colors changing on all those trees in the hills makes for a really pretty drive.

Last weekend we visit Mike and Kara and had dinner and a pumpkin carving. Audrey and Alex made a cool pumpkin with our name cut in it — it was pretty cool. Then on Tuesday we did our walk around the neighborhood. Halloween is stating to be cool as Alex gets old enough to understand the meaning of it all — gathering sugar-filled treats. This year he went with some of his buddies. As always the photos are in the photo section. I believe I am all caught up again.

Tomorrow, Alex will turn 2 years old at 5:03 p.m. He has been such a great kid. I am really proud of him. This weekend we are having a party for him in the park across the street. The theme is going to be Cars — The Motion Picture. I am looking forward to it.

I am off to bed. Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
