11 Updates Needed for a Better iPhone
After a week with the iPhone, I have been able to make a quick list of things I think need to be addressed to improve the iPhone. Since the iPhone syncs with iTunes, these issues could be easily addressed with a Software Update. Some of these issues may be the result of cross OS compatibility to create a unified user experience on the PC and Mac, but since I (and all Apple lovers) use OS X I don’t really care about how it would perform with the PC. This is an Apple product, right?
I have already posted these concerns to an Apple forum monitored heavily by Apple employees, so I hope it’s taken seriously.
- Ability to sort locations in the Weather application
- Calendar application should retain the same groups and colors as the desktop Calendar application
- Ability to add contacts to groups like the Address Book on the desktop
- Ability to sort stock tickers
- Ability to sort Notes
- Ability to sync notes in the same way you can with the iPod. Currently there is no way to get a Note onto your desktop that I’ve found
- Enable disk use on desktop, so I can use my iPhone to transfer documents to different computers
- Ability to add a time/date stamp to photos taken with the camera
- Ability to zoom with camera (similar to the way the Palm Treo 650 does it)
- Create folders in POP mail and move messages to folders on the iPhone
- Legend for traffic noting what colors indicate
In all, the iPhone is everything is was hyped to be. It’s essentially a small handheld computer that looks really good and performs most day-to-day tasks, ie, check e-mail, browse the web, etc. I have been super happy, but I am just as excited to see a software update to address some of these pesky issues.
