Run, Forrest, Run!

100 Miles from Nike + - Nike.com
As many of you know, I started jogging just before Father’s Day this year. After my jog this morning, I synced my iPod, and I got a nice surprise — since June 10th, I’ve ran 100 miles. That may not sound like a big deal for some people, but for me that’s pretty incredible. Nike even gave me a cheesy printable certificate image. That makes it all worth it! :)

It hasn’t been easy. With Audrey being pregnant, it’s been tempting to fall off the wagon. A couple days ago while grocery shopping, it took every ounce of energy to not buy the gallon carton of Blue Bell Key Lime Pie Ice Cream. It’s a summer flavor (only available in the summer time), but I knew that if I bought it I would eat the entire thing because Audrey doesn’t like Key Lime anything. Sigh. I love that ice cream. Anyway, I have increased my resistant to 5 times a week, and increased weights from 10 to 20 pounds, but I am still keeping my reps at 12. Anyone an expert here, please let me know if you have any pointers.

That’s all for now. I also thought I would leave you with my iTunes stats of my runs. Pretty impressive the amount of calories you can burn in 100 miles. Thank you all for your support.

DavidPruitt.com Upgrades to Web2.0

This weekend I spent some time making some updates to the web site. Specifically, I gave it some bling with some snappy Web2.0 controls. First, in the right sidebar, you can collapse sections by clicking on the little green ball Green Dot. When the section collapses, the little ball will turn orange Orange Dot. If you need to expand the section again, just click on the little orange ball and it will expand. This will allow you to hide certain section you don’t care about. For example, I keep the archive collapsed until I want to reminisce.

New Design of DavidPruitt.com
The second addition is the ability to move the right sidebar sections around. You heard me right — just move your mouse over to the right sidebar area, click on the one of the section headers like “Blogging Friends” and drag it down on the page, and it will move the entire section. Pretty cool, huh? :) Uh huh.. yeah!!

Finally, I made some other small design changes here and there. I hope you like it, but if you don’t you know how to tell me off. I haven’t test all this in Internet Explorer, so if it’s broken, I will have to work on that during the weekend when I can do some browser testing at work.

I am off to spend some time with Alex before he goes to bed. I will provide a family update when I have some time this week, but in short, it was an awesome weekend. Alex and lounged around the pool and soaked up some son while Mommy rested at home. Night.

Happy 10th Anniversary

Audrey Pruitt and David Pruitt celebrate 10 years of marriage
This day is dedicated to my wife, Audrey. I look back at our high school senior pictures, and realize that Audrey is just as beautiful to me today as she was almost 17 years ago. Today, we celebrate 10 years of marriage. It has been an amazing 10 years. Audrey is a wonderful wife, terrific mother, and my best friend. She truly is the love of my life, and I couldn’t imagine going through life without her. Thank you for an amazing 10 years, Audrey!

More Summer Fun

I’ve discovered since my last posting that some people do not appreciate my love for monkeys. In fact, some think its just stupid. I guess I can’t please everyone. Oh well. Be warned, I will share my love for monkeys on a routine basis, and soon you will learn to love them as much as I do. Okay, enough of the silliness for now.

The most exciting news in the Pruitt Family is the baby. Audrey will be 17 weeks pregnant on Monday. Baby Pruitt is beginning to move around, and Audrey is most definitely showing. I will be posting photos shortly. Alex is convinced he is having a baby sister, even thought I regularly refer to the baby as baby brother. We will find out who is correct on September 4th.

Alex Pruitt at the Kiddie ParkLast weekend, we went to Oklahoma to visit our families. My mother recently visited the emergency room where they drained 3 liters of fluid from her liver. I thought it would be good for her to have Alex there to help brighten her day. While we were in Oklahoma, we went to the Kiddie Park. Due to major flooding in Bartlesville image, the Kiddie Park has just recently reopened. With a hand full of tickets, Alex rode just about everything in the park that he is tall enough to ride. We all had a good time, but with a full day of activities coupled with the heat we were tired by the end of the day.

This Thursday, August 16th, Audrey and I will celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. I cannot spill the beans on details as Audrey reads by blog, but it’s going to be a good one. In fact, I might just spring for a nicer restaurant than Long John Silvers since its 10 years. All joking aside, it’s amazing that we’ve been together 10 years. In January, we will have been a couple for 17 years. Isn’t that crazy?

Want a weight loss update? I am stuck. I’ve lost 45 pounds total. I do 1 hour of cardio in the morning with some light resistance. I usually do some sort of exercise in the evening, bicycling, tennis, swimming, etc, but I am not really loosing any more weight at this point. I continue to drop in cloth sizes, and poke more holes in my belt. I am loosing inches, just not weight. I am staying determined, but I am certain the weight loss will continue. It’s just taking some time. I still swear by Nike Plus. This is a shameless plug, but it really is cool. You just plug this into your iPod, and drop a transmitter in your shoe, and you can track your jogs (or walks). It’s been really great, and a wonderful motivator. Go get one. image Nike Plus

I am looking forward to spreading more good news about Audrey, Alex and the Baby. I will update the site again when I have more information. Out.
