2008 is quickly coming to a close. It was a pretty rough year for the Pruitt family. My mother passed just before Valentine’s Day and Winnie passed away a couple days ago. It’s safe to say, we won’t be missing 2008. However, with the despair came joy. The birth of Andrew in January started the year off on the right foot.

Andrew is night and day different than his older brother. The two can not be more opposite. For instance, Alex has been sick once that I can remember — on his first birthday. The boy is made of steel. He never feels bad. Andrew, on the other hand, gets ill when the wind blows. A few days before Christmas, he spiked a fever and was not looking well. I called our pediatrician, and was able to get Andrew to a clinic. After some tests and x-rays, we discovered that Andrew had mild pneumonia. They gave him some antibiotics and a steroid shot, and he got well pretty quick.

Alex has been doing pretty well. He turned 4 years old in November. We are working with him on his attitude and behavior which has been somewhat of a struggle. When I talk to him, sometimes it’s like talking to myself. I don’t know what I am going to do when he turns 13 years old.

Audrey discovered Facebook — enough said. She and Alex also found a small turtle which they have kidnapped as a pet. They have a large elaborate tank for it. I think it’s ridiculous, but it makes Audrey happy, so I guess that makes me happy. Sigh. Alex named him Rex the Alex. I don’t know where he comes up with this stuff.

This is the first year we were able to spend Christmas at home. Audrey’s family came to visit for a week, and my sister came to visit. It was great having family together. Santa, of course, brought a bunch of gifts for the boys. I can not tell which gift Alex likes most. He really enjoys playing with his new toy guns, but he also enjoys his Hulk Smash fists — Daddy likes them too :)  Santa also brought the family our first robot — the Roomba Scooba *. It keeps your hardwood and tile floors clean. First, it vacuums, then washes and squeegees the floor. It’s been a real time saver, especially if you have small children. We’re already talking about a second one that just vacuums.

Tonight we’re off to our annual tradition, New Years Eve with the Warren’s. Audrey has already prepared the Gin Slush. It’s going to be a good night. :)

I hope your year went better than ours. We’re hoping for a most awesome 2009. Be safe, and have a happy New Year!!
